FTA Partners with USTA PNW for Summer Programming 2018

Fairbanks Tennis Association is proud to partner with USTA Pacific Northwest this summer to bring USTA RecTennis program to Fairbanks!

While FTA has been a USTA Community Tennis Member for several years, FTA is collaborating with USTA RecTennis program for the first time this summer. RecTennis has been very successful in Anchorage the last few years and brings new opportunities to Fairbanks this summer!

FTA Updates January 2018

The Fairbanks Tennis Association Board of Directors meets on the third Wednesday of every month. The Board works throughout the year to:

– promote and support tennis programs in the Fairbanks area.
-promote year-round tennis facilities and improve tennis facilities in the community for the public benefit.
-foster national and international competition and develop amateur athletes or such competition in cooperation with the Unites States Tennis Association
and other associations.

Our last meeting was Wednesday 1/17/2018 and our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 2/21/2018.

From the FTA President
Hello Tennis Fans,

The FTA Sam Woodke Tennis Tournament was a smashing success! 40
participants enjoyed two full days of tennis play, camaraderie, and
sunshine! Nathan Huggett organized and ran the tournament. Tennis players
of all levels joined the fun! Thank you to all that participated, and the
many spectators cheering on their friends and family!

The 2017 Golden Days Parade is this Saturday, July 22nd at 10:00 a.m.
FTA is participating in the Golden Days Parade this year. We invite you and
your child/ren to join us as we walk in the parade. The parade begins at
10:00 am. Meet us at the back gate of Pioneer Park by 9:00 am. Call Coach
Nathan, 269-352-1522 for more information.

Session Three begins this week. Join us at the courts for tennis play, and
fun with friends!

The High School Tennis Season begins July 26th.
Please join us for our Preseason Registration Tuesday, July 25th, 5:30
p.m.-7:30 p.m. at the Dan Ramras Community Tennis Courts. We will have
registration forms available, share information about our program, and
answer questions that you have.

Annual Block Party
The FTA Block Party & Kids Free Tennis was smashing success!

The courts were filled with action and excitement. 65 children and 10 adults participated in tennis play on the courts. Our visiting pro, Nathan Huggett, along our other coaches, provided activities and instruction for all! FTA provided hotdogs/hamburgers, chips and drinks for all attendees.  Music was provided Ken “VMAX” Vehmeier. We would like to thank Design Alaska and Kendall Auto of Fairbanks for sponsoring this event!

Swing Into Spring
We held our 2nd Annual “Swing Into Spring Kids Free Tennis Clinic” April 1st at the Monroe High School Gymnasium. It was a smashing success! 50 PreK-3rd graders and 18 4th-6th graders joined us for tennis fun and excitement. Swinging racquets, smiles, and laughter ensued. A fantastic time was had by all!
